Reported on April 16, 2014 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #40546

During August 2012, I met with a small road accident wherein a Bike got hit by my Car. As a responsible citizen I got out of the car and asked the person whether he has received any injuries (This was in Mahim, Mumbai and I could have easily ran away from the spot if I wished). There were no physical injuries to the person. The person insisted that he wanted to take the matter to the police. When we went to the police station, the concerned Police officer resolved the matter and asked me to leave. The next day, he called me and told me to come to police station with Rs.30000 cash for compensation to the biker and bribes for the team involved. (The same could be verified through telephone records, I have the name, designation and contact number through which the officer made calls and the my number on which the calls were made). I refused to pay the bribe but the officer kept on calling me for three months. On 28th November 2013, He came to my house to arrest me for the crime. After intervention from a local person he agreed to leave on a condition that I will show up in the police station next day. On the next day, he took Rs.35000 from me as compensation for victim but the other party said he has not received even a penny from the police officer till date.
The case is still running in the court.
