Bribe is a must if you want your police verication to be OK

Reported on July 14, 2011 from Ballia , Uttar Pradesh  ι Report #6455

When i applied for a passport in 2006 and it came up for police verification. Two policemen from Kotwali came to my house and told me that my passport application had come for police verification and i should get the verification done by a respected person and on a notary i had to state my residential address and i had not committed a crime and i was not wanted by law and the court had not put any restriction on me leaving the country. If anything was found flawed or untrue, i would be solely responsible for it .

Lol!!! All the onus was on me ,that too ,in writing, on a stamp paper. What the **********did the police verify then ? Isn't this police verification process a joke where the terrorists get Indian passports within a week while the innocent citizens have to wait for years.

Anyway , for all the hardship that the police did in taking my papers, they charged me 1500 rupees only. Thank you, Police Department !!!

I have had four passports in my family and now you can calculate how much i had to pay.

BTW , i like when the police tells you to give the bribe ," Sabhi log dete hain. Pandrah sau lagta hai . Nahi to aap kotwal sahab se baat kar lijiye , hum report bhej denge ki hume yeh aadmi nahi mila." Damn, they ask for bribe with authority as if it is their constitutional right.
