I went for registering my marriage at Virugambakkam SRO, Chennai on 23rd of March 2015.
After completing all the procedures, I was asked to pay a fee of Rs.180 towards registration for which I was given a receipt. After this, I was requested by Ms. Kokila who was working as a Assistant Registrar to give some money to an attendant who was guiding us to sign the register.
Initially I thought that she was requesting for a tip kind of money. I asked my wife to give her some Rs.50 as a tip. But the lady has made a open request to my wife to give Rs.500 as bribe and she was not ready to accept Rs.50 and all. Fearing that those people will intentionally create any mess in registration process, we had to pay them Rs.500.
The most worst thing is that the work has not been over till 27th of March 2015 inspite of getting a handfull of bribe. They are still making us swing to their office and our place everyday.
