My father passed away in 2001 and my mother in Jan 2005. Subsequently I wanted the house to be transferred in my name. This is when the Land Record office I appraoched asked me to pay some fee of Rs. 17/- to the government. After paying the due fee, I submitted all the relevant documents to the department. Later on a tout approached me and told that the khata would not be done unless it went through them. This statement was seconded by many people who had a similar problem. Bribe money is also based on which area the property is located. The better or developed the location, the higher the bribe money.
