Reported on September 9, 2014 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #43302

This is not a report it is just a jist of the issues faced by Citizens.
Let me know if this is not an appropriate forum.
This is an appeal to External Affairs ministry. Please share so that this is heard to the Government of India.

It is a very good move that External Affairs Ministry has scrapped Police Verification in some cases.

The answer to the question why police verification is required is given in the Passport website site is

"Passport is a very valuable document. Thus, in order to ensure that it does not go in wrong hands, police verification is required for issuance of passport."

Let us be honest what if hands become wrong after passport has been provided, what is government going to do.

Citizens are biggest sufferers when police verification messes up in case of passports.

First and foremost Police verification does not at all proceed without bribes and if citizen refuses, "Adverse" Reports are filed

Look at different forums how many issues come up.

The rules are too stringent and illogical like if the applicant stayed in three different cities in past year due to his work or study or whatever then he has to undergo police verification at three diferent places thereby pay bribe at three different locations and if lucky, the passport file will move and the entire procedure might take many years.

Because of all this applicants tend to hide their residence information and provide only one address. It becomes very easy for police to find the truth out.

Now applicant has two choices left either pay a hefty bribe police or again apply for reverification for that he again needs to furnish all his address proofs and pay fine for hiding the information.

All this is very inconvenient and cumbersome.

Why doesn't government scrap Police Verification or if it really wants to check whether the applicant is involved in some criminal offence it can do background verification without even meeting the applicant.

That is exactly how the corporate companies hire third party vendors for doing these kind of verifications for their employees and it is very effective.

If government can complete tha ADHAAR project then it can give each and every citizen a conduct score on the basis of which complete Police verification can be scrapped.

A lot of energy time and money gets wasted in the process. Many citizens who can add value to country's economy by going abroad are deprived of this.
No Police No Bribe No inconvenience.

Please please and please share this and make your voices heard.
