Could never board a train without greasing TTE

I travelled from Jammu to mangalore from 1973 to 1978 a long journey as a student. I could never get a birth without paying TTE. The only exception was travel from Delhi to Jammu during emergency although I paid a bribe to travel from madras to Delhi even in those days.
