I had shifted from Bangalore to Pune in 2007 with my bike. Once while riding home I was stopped by a regular khaki constable at 10 pm. He demanded to see the NOC since I had a KA registration. When he realised that I didnt have one, he asked for a fine of Rs 3000. I didnt have the money. He then demanded a bribe of Rs 1000 to settle the matter. Else I would have to leave my Bullet at the Shivajinagar police station and come the next day and appear in court and all that fuss. After haggling with him for an hour, I paid him Rs 1000 and got off. I then found an agent and got my NOC from Karnataka and paid the tax and got my number changed to a MH regn.
