Document writer cheating public

Reported on June 6, 2011 from Kannur , Kerala  ι Report #7862

I needed two affidavit - one for a power of attorney and one for a LIC loan closure. The second one had a format given by LIC. All that needed was to print it out on a stamp paper and signed by a notary.

I approached a "document writer", normally found outside the registrar office. He took Rs.950 for each of the document. When I went there to collect the document two days I realized that the Rs.950 he took for the LIC document was just to forward me to an advocate. The advocate printed all the documents, signed and took another Rs.500 as his fees.

This one, more than a bribe was a case of cheating. But I was helpless to object as my power of attorney document was pending with the same writer.
