It was 2009 Onam season. As every Malayali know there will be more police checking on the road in this season so that police get enough bribe to celebrate their Onam. I was driving my car and police stopped me for checking. I was ready with Driver's licence, RC Book copy, insurance, pollution certificate, etc.
After checking all my documents, the police man desperately wanted to find out something in my car so that he can ask bribe. He checked indicators, light, horn, etc and couldn't find anything wrong in those.
He was looking every parts of my car and suddenly I could see some happy smile in his face. With a victory smile, he told me that my number plate is sticker, which is illegal and it should be Aluminium embossed it seems.
He was so happy that finally he got a chance to ask for bribe. He told me he will take the car to police station, I need to go to court next day and pay a fine for Rs. 1000 or else give him Rs. 300 and no more troubles.
I had to agree to give him Rs. 300 otherwise he will give me more troubles.
I beleive there should be a way to change this bribe system in our country.
