Had to bribe the entire group of employees in the registrar office to get the register the apartment I had purchased.

This was for registering the purchase of the new apartment. The bribe amount was pre-determined (based on the sale value of the house), and the builder (a very big, reputed builder) had given clear instructions on how much money I had to bring in cash to the registrar office on the day of the registration. This HAD to be done if the work had to be done smoothly. Everyone in the office, right from the Sub-Registrar to the peon was involved. The middle man who was working on behalf of the builder, took the money from all of us purchasers and openly distributed bribes to those involved in getting our work done.
The most annoying part was to see the portraits of Mahatma ********** and Dr. Abdul Kalam displayed prominently in the Sub-Regustrar's chamber. The Sub-Registrar looked VERY WELL OFF, gold and diamond jewellery adorning his entire self.
I felt utterly disgusted and helpless !!
