I Had to Pay Bribe even I tried allot not to do so

We had applied for passport and passport person came to my home for verification.Then he asked us to come to the police station with few documents.
We went there and shown all the docs they had requested.Person named ********** gawhane started asking for few more documents,we asked him that the documents he requested we already had shown him but he said this is the process.
I had shown him my wife's birth certificate but he asked me to bring a affidavit which I know is only needed if you do not have any birth proof, but still I took leave for a day and arranged all the documents he requested.End of the day when we went to him he said I will have to come again next day for few signatures.Sad part was my daughter had fever that day but since no body was there to take care of her at home we had to take her with us.The person new that but he did not show any sympathy and said if we do not come next day he is going to return the report as not verified or the second option is pay Rs 1000 we negotiated and than paid Rs 500 to him.
Me and my wife tried hard not bribe but at last we lost the fight.
