Hi.. I'm **********... I'm a retired HCS Officer (Haryana Civil Services). A Patwari (officer in the land and revenue department) allegedly got me into a case of mis-interpretation due to my denial from paying 1% bribe ( 1% of the total transaction amount). Immediately the cops came and took us (me and the 3 others, seller and buyer) to the police station and started beating us. On my saying that I'm a retired HCS officer their behavior changed but their prices HIKED. I called my son and he argued with the police but got no positive sign, as the end he paid an initial bribe of a lac per member i.e. 4 lacs to get all 4 of us out for the night, Next day the cops called again and said that the SP has got to know about the case and we'll have to file a case on the same, we argued again and requested the SHO (station House officer) to sort this out and paid 5 lacs more to the S.P. and thought we're out of this ********** now. 4 days later we get a call from Land and Revenue department stating that the Deputy Commissioner and senior officers of the L&R Department have information about the case and they got the news printed in the news papers next day, with the upcoming calls from known one's made us pay more and have a final settlement to shut this thing up and never call us again, the negotiations kept on going and took over 10 days and finally paying up 7 lac rs. more with our 80% savings ending up in bribing for something that we never did !
