I wanted BSNL broadband to be installed at my home in Pattan, Baramulla. So I went to the local exchange but to my surprise only two employees were there. One was a cashier and other was a lineman. I was told that no engineer was present there and I would have to talk to the lineman and cashier for landline installation.
The name of the employee was Mushtaq. When I talked to him he was very polite and asked me that it would be done in two days time but he would have to buy the wire first and asked me for Rs. 1000.
I paid him the money. When after two days I called him to check about the progress he didn’t pick up my calls. I visited the exchange again he was very rude there and said he has other things to take care of than to install my broadband. I talked to the cashier about the incident but he seemed to be hand in gloves with the lineman.
When I looked into it further there were testimonies from many other people in my area who said that the lineman had duped them also in pretext of installing the broadband.
