I applied for a reissues of passport; The passport application was seamless; but when it came to police station the story follows.
The application was lying in the station for 4 days; on fifth day I just went their to enquire whether they have received the file; The person responsible asked me to search for my file. I did and handed over the file to him, He then gave me a number to contact for physical verification at my residence. I called the responsible officer and to my luck he was in my area that day and agreed to visit me. He came late evening and then he verified and asked me to get the forms filled from witness and come to police station next day morning.
I did all necessary docs and carried all next day afternoon. The first person who was responsible for documentation, checked everything and found satisfactory. He then asked me to wait in the parking lot of the police station.
I knew what was about to happen, I went to parking lot and he followed, and asked me to give something. I knew what was it, but I asked him what is it? He asked me again " Kuch dedo". I was upset because I had to pay and I was worried if I do not pay him, He ll not process my file. I thought of paying 200 Rs, but was afraid that he ll not process my file, so ended up paying Rs.500...... I could have bought 5 beers..
