My first experience with Mumbai Police

This was in Sept 1998 , I was on my way to the Hero Honda service station on a Splendour for its first service. Met with a minor accident which however damaged my bike very badly. After towing it to the service station , I was told by them that I have to file a FIR in order to claim Insurance. I went to the Mahim Police station. Told my story to the officer , I was told to sit. And then no one talked to me for almost 2 hours. My back was bruised but that had no meaning for the officers. This was the first time I had visited a police station , so was scared to say anything. Finally , a havaldar came to me to the accident site , he explained me the need to bribe to get things done. I did not have enough money , so called my dad's accountant and we paid 2000 Rs. in order to ge a copy of the FIR.
