Me & my family applied for passport last month. The verification papers reached our local (Adampur) police station but the police chap called up and asked us to come to police station. He asked for a plain Rs 500/- per person (going rate) or else he would send our verification report as address not found! I paid him up and things moved swiftly, I got my passport in no time thereafter.
