Paid Bribe for Passport Verification at Shashtri Nagar, Kothrud Police station

The person asked me for Rs. 2500/- to do the verification, my all documents was clear, He said that if we cancel this once you have to do all the stuffs from scratch and next time you come to me we will charge you double for this. I asked what is the reason you will send for cancellation - Answer was you didn't come to us for physical verification and no documents was submitted to us...I said him that I will complain this to SHO of Police station, he told me that Saab(SHO) takes 50% from this amount...... this is just loot.

If police follows laid down procedure of visiting applicant’s residence and conducting verification of applicant’s credentials, excuses like applicant did not present himself / herself at the police station or did not submit requisite documents cannot be attributed to the applicant with a view to demanding bribe. However, in the instant case, the applicant has no other go but to meet FRRO / FRO and lodge complaint against concerned police officer for causing harassment and demanding bribe.
