I was on my way to agra from newdelhi on 1st june 2012. I was stopped at a police check post in ballabhgarh on NH 2. I was asked for pappapers , policeman said there is no PUC certificate. i told them that I am driving an Euro 4 petrol car and dont require a PUC, he said no it is necessary and asked me 500 Rs to let me go. I bargained for rs 200 and then settled for 300. While I was dealing with the policeman, I saw two tempos pass by gutting out thick black smoke from their exhausts, but no one asked them to stop and show PUC. this was very frustrating and i know they harras only those in cars to earn money. On my way I got a PUC made by a road side centre, which did not even test my exhaust emmission and gave a certificate. what is the point of having this kind of PUC certificate. Why a car having EURO 4 petrol engine be asked a PUC.
