For police verification the police officer called me to police station instead of visiting my home. Just took xerox copies of my documents and asked for chai pani. Asked for 1000 rupees but I negotiated and gave 800. After a few days another office came to my place with my file. When I told him that the police verification was already done and I had even paid 800 at the station, he refused to admit that it had ever happened. He said someone not from police misled you (how did my file get into hands of a non-officer and how could he arrange a meet at station?). He then took my signature on file (xerox documents already in file from last time) and asked for 500. Being in immediate need of Passport I paid up.
