Passport verification bribe

Reported on August 2, 2016 from Munger , Bihar  ι Report #114804

I went to the police station in the month of March in 2014. I can't recall police officer's name but he was a munshi at police station and asked me to present 2 relatives of mine and called my relatives to cone to police station and then they verified for me. After the formal procedures the police officer asked me to pay 800 rupees to get my file forwarded without any hassle. Well, I am a student and never indulged in any activity that could lead me to police station. So I was wondering what kind of hassle would I experience if I don't pay? Is he going to make false cases against me? Other police personnel there were too supporting hus statement, so I thought it'd be wise to give him the money and I did. The incident took place at Kotwali thana, Munger, Bihar at around 12 noon in 2014 in march month. I can't recall the exact date though.
