The officer who signs death certificates at the Ghole Road office of the Pune Municipal Corporation, refused to sign( message sent through assistant) until I paid in foreign currency as I am not an indian citizen any longer. I paid the equivalent of 1700 rupees to get the signature. This was extremely distressing and humiliating for me considering all other officials in the PMC had been so helpful at our time of need.
