Police Bibe in Palolem big problem for tourist

I was smoking on the road near the beach in Palolem (I am an English person visiting India for 6 months) there was a sign on the beach but it was totally unreadable (which I pointed out to the Police) the Police approached me mentioned the sign and demanded 100 ruppees or I would be arrested and taken to the Police station. I paid the money as I felt intimidated and did'nt fancy being put in an Indian police cell after seeing such horror stories on the TV. THIS HAS TO STOP it will cost your country in the end as tourists like myself won't come again
