I have always believed in paying fines whenever i'm wrong and never paying a bribe. But to avail my home loan from SBI for an apartment which i bought in mysore with all my hard earned money, i was supposed to get the apartment registered immediately (i.e. as soon as the loan amount is disbursed). Thats when i realised after going to the sub registrar office (south,mysore) that to get my work done i have to get it through a tout. my registration costs which i paid through dds was pretty high already. upon that these agents expect a fixed percentage (about 1%) of the amount to get the work done. i was extremely angry as i don't remember the last time i paid a bribe or got work done through any agent. but this time because the stakes were very high and time very less i had to take this route. i regret it, but felt so helpless. sad part is i realised how quickly these shameless officials did their work and my registration was completed within an hour. the whole process of bribe giving, receiving etc is actually not under the table, but under the office (literally). hope this menace ends.
