Talked into filing a complaint

Reported on November 12, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #29994

Around the ********** mentioned, my wife was on her way to St Martha Hospital on a 2 wheeler. While turning into an entrance, an auto came from teh adjacent auto lane at a very high speed and rammed into the scooty. My wife had limited injuries. Auto overturned. Few other auto drivers came to the support of teh injured autodriver and all of them surrounded my wife asking for some compensation (approx Rs 2000/-). When my wife approached the traffic constable, he advised her that the auto river is at fault and that she should not pay any money and file an FIR at the police station. When i reached the police station, we waited for couple of hours for the writer to arrive. Upon arrival, he immediately said that my wife was at the fault as the gate she was trying to enter is made an exit gate only. He said she requires a bail from me otherwise she would be retained at the station till producing at the court. To ensure that she comes home that day, i have signed the papers and contacted a third party who came in and made the payment.
