It's a unique bribery system in kolkata that whenever u buy a new car u have to pay lot more than what actually is the road tax in west bengal and it's a well accepted system where the car dealership takes the whole amount and and the share is passed to local authorities, and the dealership or car seller are so daring that they display the the road tax and the bribe as a consolidated amount openly on their rate board. i am aghast that nobody complains about this practice in kolkata. I paid 34000 as road tax for my new car and when i finaaly got the receipt it was for around 22000 rupees now where the rest 12000 went??? when asked to dealership they told these are extra which u have to pay at motor vehicle deptt officials to get your car registered.
