Reported on January 25, 2015 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #50505

I was asked to pay Rs. 200/- for Signal Violation by Officer A (name unknown). When I asked for a receipt, I was discouraged to do the same as the fine would amount to Rs. 400/- and that they could charge me a fine of up to Rs. 1100/-. When I agreed to pay the fine amount with receipt, Officer B (Issuing Officer) also discouraged me to ask for a receipt, quoting the same 400-1100 rate. When I insisted on receiving a receipt, the Issuing Officer booked me for

1)GP06 Signal Violation Rs. 100/-
and also,
2)CE26 Causing a person to drive at excessive speed etc. Rs. 300/-

I had to pay Rs. 400/- instead of Rs. 100/- (for the actual offense) because I asked for a receipt. I do not want any money back. I hope that you can use this information to implement measures to stop such incidents from happening.
