Traffic violation and wrong charges
I had entered a road near IFFCO Chowk Metro Station (from Umkal Hospital) in the wrong way close to the pedestrian pavement with blinkers on to indicate a slow moving vehicle (Maruti Zen car). I had tired to take the short cut to cross over to the other side of the road rather than take a long route at 8:15 PM. Police constable caught me breaking the traffic rule and asked me to stop. I stopped the vehicle and agreed to pay the fine for the traffic violation that I had done. However the constable demanded Rs. 500 which was way too much for what I had violated. I insisted on challan and charges to be clearly mentioned, instead of marking the offense on the challan, the SI asked me to sign the challan without any marking or declaration of my offense which I deigned signing it. Instead he further charged me for not carrying my DL, RC documents (as those documents were at my house) and also dangerously driving apart from the wrong side driving which I could have never done as it was a very short distance to cross over and I had never been challaned on any serious traffic violation. I told him that I would get the documents from my house, but he didn't relent and insisted me to pay Rs 500. I had Rs. 250 and told him that I had only this which was enough to cover my offense. However he insisted to withdraw more money from the bank and give to him for which I refused. He told me that he would be impounding my vehicle for not paying the fine and I have to go through lot of hurdles to get my vehicle back. I didn't not relent and insisted to challan me for only the offense that I had committed, but however he went ahead and charged me for all irreverent charges there by increase my fine even after insisting that I would produce the required documents the very next day. Finally I had to leave my vehicle in Sec-29 police station and take the unsigned challan from them for impounding my vehicle for which 3 out of 4 charges are wrong and show the atrocity by the police in Gurgaon. I'm not sure what awaits me in Sec-51 or court if I further fight this case.
