I am extremely sorry for your loss. It is heart wrenching to see how corrupt officials can make a common man do the rounds of the offices for a simple process. However, I suggest you visit the passport officer once again. This time, keep a complaint ready to submit to the senior officials in case they are further delaying your process. If this doesn't work, then file an RTI application to check the status of your application. The process is long but will surely yeild results.

My parents applied for their new passport via web in dec 2009. Police verification happened in Jan. We tracked the development on the Internet and it said under process. However, the passport never arrived. My father wrote several letters to the passport office. He passed away in dec 2010. On Jan 26th, 2011 in public adalat of passport office chennai we raised the issue. My mother got to meet the passport officer in early march 2011 . She assured us that her passport will be given in ten days. It is two months since and no sign of passport. We are frustrated and at loss on next course of action. Please advice us how to proceed.
