This calls for some collective action. I suggest that you organise students who suffer from the same problems day in and day out and then meet a senior official in the police. Please keep a record of individual cases and the police stations where these things are a common occurrence. One thing that worries me, particularly in cities such as Pune, Bangalore etc. where there is a large population of students from other States, how they are particularly singled out as soft targets for bribery by the police.</p>

Sir I am a student studying in Pune, and I sincerely think Pune Police (esp. traffic police) are the most conman of all of their counterparts elsewhere. In Pune, if a non-marathi student is caught under fair or unfair means, he has no option left than to bribe the policemen. Policemen keeps on accumulating charges under the heads which a common man is even unheard of. They check your vehicle for air pressures, rear view mirrors(both required), and sometimes they even measure for modifications. Finally they sum up the fine upto few thousands for which we as students have no option but to bribe them for few hundreds. Please suggest some remedy to tackle them. Once out of my unbowed behaviour I have been even taken to a thana where they threatened me to put behind bars for the night till the second day when court opens. And my only fault there was, I asked them to show me the rule books under which they were accumulating the fine. Finally I paid them 200Rs to get myself out of the never e
