Paid Bribe for clearing police verification

Reported on November 10, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #32886

Had to get a duplicate of a Sale Deed as my old mother had lost her copy. Approached Rajajinagar Sub-Registrar's office and the concerned lady asked me for the date of sale deed which my mother had forgotten. I could give her only my mother's name and the year 2005 and approximate month.
Since a form had to be filled with exact details, the lady went up to the computer room and in 20 mins she came with the exact details of number, date etc and asked me to fill the form.
She calculated the fee to be paid (per page) and I was asked to pay Rs. 450 /-. Gave her a Rs. 1000 note. She promptly returned a 500 /- note and borrowed 5 notes of Rs. 10 from her colleague clerk and issued a receipt, thereby returning Rs. 550 /- and with a smile asked me to come the next day.
The next day on arriving, she promptly took the documents from a shelf all duly signed and authenticated and handed it over. I was really pleased and since they do not wear name badges, I am unable to name her.
God bless such Government staff - *******
