RTO Yeshwantpur - employee refused a bribe my father offered

Reported on June 24, 2012 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #32815

I needed to get a drivers license very urgently as a document to apply for a passport. I did not have any time to waste. After following all the procedures correctly and without paying any bribe we were at the last step. I had my picture taken and was waiting to receive the license.
After a while we were informed that there was something wrong with the printer so my card would be delayed unconditionally. They offered to have it posted to our home address as soon as it was ready. Since we could not wait that long we explained our predicament and said we would wait for as long as it took to repair the printer but we needed the card that same day. We then waited for more than 3 hours with no word from the employees. at this point since it was almost closing time, my father offered to pay the man some "extra cash" to get my card done immediately.
My favorite moment of the entire day was when the man politely refused by saying, " no sir, we are trying our best, I understand your emergency, we will do everything we can to get you your card today" . He did not take any money from us. One more hour later I had my license in my hand and a great deal of respect for the employee who refused to take money and still did his job to the best of his ability.
