Bribe on independence day.. heartbroken :(

I was on my way back from jalandhar to amritsar and it was around midnight. Dad was driving while mom and i were chatting. We were stopped by the police for not wearing seat belt or else they would take us to jalandhar for challan. Since we had to reach amritsar on time we paid 500 to get away from it and left. Later we heard that the police at that post was not even allowed to stop, they were just suppose to be patrolling. Unfortunate to have done that on independence day :(
