For issuing a new passport police verification is required which is done at your local police station. In my case the concerning police officer asked for Rs 300.
He even refused to negotiate the amount saying that it has to be distributed among others including the thana incharge(T.I.).
i paid him bribe otherwise my application for passport would have been rejected thereby wasting my Rs 1000 of the passport fees.
