Hi, I am ********** Makwana with 4 wheeler and on 15 sept 2012 I was travelling from my residence in Thane to Mumbai CST, I picked up the route via sea link to altamount road via kemps corner fly over to CST. I was driving first time in this route as some 2 kms from Kemps corner the road gets divided into 2 take right you reach chowpaty and if you go straight you lead to some place probably near bhulabhai ********** road. Now the catch here is while I was at the junction driving at some 35-45 kmph, signals were green and being saturday there was no traffic i got a bit confused whether to go straight or take right and in this process I swayed my car to left and right (10-15 cms) and since signal was green I decided let me go straight, now the traffic cop at the signal saw and asked me to pull over. He asked me where are you going I replied to CST then he asked why did you not take right, I informed I am new on this road and since there is no "Direction Board" I got confused. he checked my license, Papers, PUC , Insurance all were in order he asked me to pay fine of 2000 when I asked for what since I had not jumped any signal, I was well below the speed limit, All my papers were in order, I was not drunk, my license was ok he informed you had cut lane hence fine, I argued people walk on the road heard this and were laughing (They understood this cop wants to make quick buck) I argued for a while and then he threatened that either pay fine our will confiscate your vehicle, then he said if u dont want to pay fine then pay Rs.1000 and leave, the moment I said no he said pay or he will charge me with 2 offence 1. Talking on Phone and 2. Jumping on signal. I could not do anything but then had to pay BRIBE of Rs.500. To top this this assole cop says now go and dont tell anyone else I will loose my job. Since I could not read the name of the cop or do not know the name of the location where this happended , I plan to visit the same location on Monday and take details on this.
