Lost my passport in SFO - California. it took me 45 mins to file a complaint at the San Mateo police dept and 24 hrs to get my online status of the complaint. traveled back on an EC. when i applied for a new passport here i underwent a series of NOTHING but sheer distress. paid to get to an agent as i was told this was the fastest way to do it, (1000) he said go to the application center my man will see you there and get you to enter pay him 1000, passport then stuck with police verification another 1000 to the damn cops to expedite it as iam leaving back in Jan and they said "2-3 mathinaa lagega" file moved from the police station to the CID guys (lost passport new rule) agent says to get the file from there quickly another 1000. a total of 4000, along with a penalty to the passport guys of 3000/- effectively 7k. and i know i was FOOLED but i surrendered to this third grade system since i was helpless beyond imagination. one chance to move the hell out of this country and i wont batter an eyelid.
