I got a call from LIU that you have to come for police verification for your passport application at roorkee police station. As I was student of IIT Roorkee , I asked him to come at my bhawan (hostel) for the verification process but he refuse and gave me a excuse that he was busy in election so he can't come. So, I had visited the police station on the same day with my essential documents. He asked me for a photograph and ask for my signature on some papers. I have completed all the formalities and lastly he asked me for the FEES. So, I told him that I had not read anywhere about this fees and I also told him that I would pay if you gave me the receipt of your charges. Then again he asked me for my documents and checking it again. He asked me for the copy of hostel certificate but as I submitted the original copy of the hostel certificate I don't have the extra copy of it and I told him to give me the copy he had and I will get a copy for him, but he refused. So I told him I will bring the another copy from the college for him on the next day. So ,on the next day I went there with the original copy but he was not there so I submitted the documents to the another person in his office as he told me over the phone. Finally, I got my passport without giving any bribe. Some of my friends who gave the bribe have not gone through the process of resubmission of documents. A large number of students from IIT Roorkee are giving bribe every year for their passport verification. I never understand why the students of such prestigious premier engineering college are doing this. Why are they not fighting for this?
