New Tatkal Passport took a year to come
I applied for a paasport before going abroad for studies. I lived in a hostel in my college in India and gave full details of my whereabouts. The police went to my permanent residence instead to confirm my presence. Obviously I was not there. We had to do rounds of the police stations while the tests I was to give were on hold. SInce a bribe was not paid by my family members at the time the policeman came home, I had to wait a year, 2 months before my arrival date abroad.
