I was 20 and I had already lost a whole academic year thanks to the passport department not being able to renew mine in time for my studies abroad. I was too proud then to pay a bribe.
But out of fear of losing another one, I gave in and got an agent to bribe some people in the office and get the thing over with fast. That costed Rs 5000. I should also mention a Rs 1000 bribe to the police department for speeding up my residence proof ordeal.
I hate myself for doing this. I hate them more for making me do it.
