It was june of this year and i had just set out to start my first business venture. I had already paid down payment on my lease for 5 years and started furnishing my store. The space i had rented had got its electricity connection cut a few months back. It was during the application for getting re instated that i got the shock of my life, i was asked to pay 35k bribe or else i would need to pay 2 lakhs to get the transformer re enhanced or something?!! the authorities never asked me for the bribe they asked it thru my electrician. I tried to figure out why i need to pay and from whatever advice i got from around i was asked to pay…for a 12kva requirement paying 2 lakhs for re enhancing the transformer did not make any sense…i finally coughed up the money and got the connection…today i am successfully running my business and sadly faced with the same situation i really do not know what i can do differently :(
