I was not asked for any bribe

I just got my passport renewed, within 15 days of application without paying any bribe. Here is my experience and learning.

1) Better to get things done before they become urgent. I feel people gauge the urgency and make such demands.

2) Even if things are urgent, do not show it till it becomes really late. In my case the police officer handling my verification called me and asked that he would be coming in the evening, but he didn't I never called him back and neither did he turn up. Probably he has already done the verification and was just checking me out. OR he was really a good citizen and an Honest officer.

3) Never call to find the status, until it becomes inevitable.

4) Make up your mind that you would not pay a bribe. That is what I had done, and if this had been delayed I had decided that I would rather file an RTI to get the status.
